  2. I had a 1980 4.9 Turbo TA back in the 80’s. Bought it off the dealer’s lot with 52 miles on it. Had been ordered for a “daddy’s girl” and never went through with the deal. The delete list was longer than the options. No T tops, no p/w,p/d’s, valor int. no mats, did have a/c, rear defrost, rally rims w Firestone’s Only naturally aspirated 8 cyl. gas combustion motor ever made for a car. What an engineering nightmare! I was 19 when I bought it in ’80, 30 when I got rid of it in ’90.
It’s STILL the only car I miss and dream about sometimes! I’m not a big gear head, but do allot of work myself. Back in the day I had a buddy who helped me rebuild the turbo & put some kind of performance chip in the computer that supposedly gave me 20 – 25 more H.P. All I know is that many times I counted on those 4 wheel disk breaks! The color was a burnt orange metal flake, Sweet. Thanks for taking me back there for few minutes.
