Latest generation Polo lineup is now complete with the new GTI version. In the heart of this small hatch is a 1.4-liter TSI engine with 177 horsepower mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG).

Average fuel consumption is just 5.9-liters per 100 km (40 mpg), with CO2 emissions of just 139 g/km. For comparison its predecessor had also 177 hp(from a 1.8-liter turbo engine), but consumed 7.9-liters per 100 km (30 mpg) with CO2 emissions of 188 g/km CO2. That’s a 25 percent improvement in fuel economy!

1,194 kilogram Volkswagen Polo GTI accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 229 km/h (142 mph).

The Polo GTI comes equipped with the standard ESP electronic stabilisation programme including Hill Climb Assist, electronic transverse differential lock, head-thorax side airbags, belt tensioners, belt tension limiters plus belt warning, head restraints designed to avoid whiplash trauma (each in front), three rear head restraints as well as Isofix points on the rear bench seat for suitably fitted child seats.

Other highlights are electro-hydraulic power steering, bootspace lighting and tie-down eyes, driver seat height adjustment, bi-xenon headlights with cornering lights, LED daytime running lights and corner marker lights as well as a panoramic tilt/slide sunroof.
