If all goes as planned, then Hennessey Venom GT will make its debut next week after years of development. This new American supercar is based upon the Lotus Elise, but clearly bigger than the little Lotus. The frame is two feet wider and a foot longer.

Tiny 1.8-liter Toyota engine is replaced with a twin-turbo LS9 that will be offered in three setups 725 bhp, 1000 bhp and 1200 bhp. Venom GT weight is just around 2,400 pounds (1071 kg). 1200 bhp and a weight of 2,400 pounds sound like a winning formula! Top version is expected to hit 100 km/h(62 mph) in 2.2 seconds, and have a top speed of 420 km/h (262 mph).
