Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 race car walkaround (Video)
Mercedes has released a walkaround video of the SLS AMG GT3, that will enter competition next year. The SLS AMG GT3 race car comes with new upgrades to the body, that include new front apron with a splitter, new bonnet with central cooling air vent, wider front, side wheel arch air vents, side skirts with cooling ducts for the rear brakes, smooth underbody with a rear diffuser and the big rear wing.
There are also central-locking wheels, AMG race brake system, roll cage, drink supply, headlight flashers, steering wheel with buttons for the pit radio and fuel filler pipes in the C-pillar.
In the heart of this GT3 racer is a 6.3-liter V8 engine which also powers the production car. No details on the maximum power output, as it will be determined by FIA to ensure that all the racing cars taking part have an equal chance. We do know though that the SLS AMG GT3 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds (0.2 seconds faster than the standard car).
Customers can place their orders from fall 2010, with deliveries scheduled to start before the 2011 racing season.
